Lindberg Model kits: 5 Space Ship of The Future! Back from the Past
Blasting from the past is Lindberg’s 5 Space Ships of the Future. Considered to be Lindberg’s most iconic and sought after kit, the futuristic 5-pack will finally be available for the first time since its originally release way back in 1958. Along with 5 complete model kits, the release will features vintage boxart, retro-inspired decals, and a few new twists. The 5 decal sheets are remastered from the 1958 versions but with a better fit and details, and include all new decal options inspired by the kits rich histories. Also for the first time ever parts are injected in a spaceship grey.
The all new full color tray features amazing models painted, assembled and photographed by E. James Small. Check out more of his work at smallartworks.ca.
Nice to have these kits back!
Looking forward to this one – I always loved the box-art. Never saw one in person ever!
I’m very excited by this one. I just purchased and built the Moonship reissue a few months back. I loved it! I’m glad to see these basically back in their original form.
As far as the decals go. Will you be giving instructions that show the placement of just the old decals, the place with the enhanced decals, or (hopeful) both?
Also, with the UFO kit come with a glow in the dark alien? Like a later reissue had? I kind of liked that feature.

The instructions will have the look and feel of the vintage sheets but will show both the new and old decals. The alien will unfortunately not be glow-in-the-dark.
I’ll need to find some luminous paint.

Blast off! Holy smoke that is cool!
So…
I just read on CultTVMan that this model set has been canceled. Is this true?
May I ask why (and get an answer)?
Yes, it has been canceled. The pure truth of the matter is that distributors didn’t buy them. If they don’t buy it, retailers can’t get them. We know there is consumer demand, but if we can’t get it into the distributor chain…
Still waiting for this set to hit the shelves. Is coming back anytime soon? Or have plans been scrapped for this?
I have the 1958 original in box looking to sell any suggestions? I no it is worth a lot of money just not use to selling items.thank you for any help you can give me.
We have no advice to offer in that regard.
I hope to finally get to it by the end of next week.
Still waiting for this one. Sad to see this set was followed through on.
I love how E. James Small painted the astronauts from the Moon Ship to resemble Alphanauts from Space: 1999! (I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned it anywhere else over the years, but congratulations to him for being Round 2’s resident ‘build-up artist’ for all their SF box art. His style really unifies the many kits and shows off just how good they can look straight out of the box.)
