Star Trek models: U.S.S. Enterprise Refit 1/1000 scale

I have to admit, I’m hesitant to show this off. Not because I don’t want anyone to see it, but because I don’t want to hear any feedback at this point. The kit will undergo some revision before tooling that will correct some of the eyesores that may be pointed out. I’ll address a couple things up front but it is not a comprehensive list of issues. All issues are being ironed out as I write.

I’m sure everyone can see the chasm-like panel lines. I had the same reaction when I saw the images of the mockup come in from the factory. That is the primary reason I blurred the last set of images. After seeing it first hand, it isn’t as bad as it shows in a photograph. They will be worked on believe me.

The other huge issue to be resolved is the deflector dish. It is way too thick. I’m really not sure why it was so hard for the mockup folks to grasp. Like I said, it will be corrected. No worries.

The part breakdown will have a few revisions too but nothing that won’t be appreciated. Special attention is being paid to this kit from a painter’s perspective. I’ve tried to make it as paint friendly as possible given the size of the kit. I’m betting we will get some requests on these areas to revise the 1/350 kit to build the same way to make it easier to paint. These are the kinds of things we will really pour over in the development of our 1/350 TOS kit.

The mockup builds up great I think. If all goes well, we will have a U.S.S. Enterprise Refit 1/1000 scale buildup at iHobby in October.

Looks nice so far, with your intended corrections. I think I’ll like the pylon joins better than the TOS E. Are the nacelle inner panels clear? It’s hard for me to tell from the photo. If so it looks like is is set up for lighting!

Wow! Nitpicks aside, that’s coming along nicely. I love the parts breakdown. Very well thought out. I also like the ball and socket and the top of the display stand. That’ll be good for “action poses”!

    I cannot wait!

It is a perfect size! TOS, Enterprise and now TMP that can all fit on a small shelf!

    It is my favorite Enterprise!

Looks like a spiffy little kit to me. I am glad you guys are working the details so hard (it will only be better for it), but it’s looking pretty darn good, even as a mockup.

This is very cool. I am definitely looking forward to this kit! Glad to see it coming together!

I for one, am very excited about this kit. The mock-up looks great, I have no doubts that you guys will refine it into a lasting treasure admired as much or more than the 1/1000 TOS that we all love. It may be me, but it seems that this kit has more parts than the 1/1000 TOS and I like that as well. My only question is will this kit come with aztecing decals or will that be more of an after-market purchase. The mock-up box art mentions it, but I figured I’d ask the folks working on this to see for sure. THANKS R2 for all of your great products!!

Yeah, this is my favorite Star Trek vessel. This looks amazing. I am gonna buy like ten of ’em. Thanks for sharing despite your reservations!

Thought I read that this kit would come with decals for the Aztec paint scheme like the 1/350 scale refit has. Am I wrong in this?

The panel line thing may never be worked out, and if you do, it’s always going to be a ‘chocolate or vanilla’ question. Just make it accurate. Kudos for bothering to think of assembly and painting ease. May you make gazillions from this kit. …and then start on a 1/350 K’tinga and 1/1000 “Enterprise” Vulcans, adversaries, etc.

    Good Day Gentalmen;
I’m new to this blog so please forgive me if I go over things from the past.

Once again you guys have blown me away. On this past saturday I finaly got my hands on the 1/350 Enterprise kit. The new decals are great. I can hardly wait to build the kit. I’m not a painter so when my friend Jim Small (SmallArtworks) told me that the new kit would include the aztecing I was floored. I’m not much of a painter us see. I have currently a grand total of 10 of the Mk1 version and hope to get just as many or more of the Mk2. Now onto the new 1/1000 kit. It looks like it well on its was to being yet another hit. Yes thier are some small things to work out but it looks great already. I am looking forward to this kit because I want to build as many of the different designs out thier as I can. Now, and I know this has to have been said already, what will it take to convince you to do a 1/1000 and 1/350 USS Reliant? Keep up the great work guys.

This kit looks great! The refit is my favorite Enterprise. I recently picked up a 1/1000 scale TOS E and I can’t wait to build it.

Thanks again for the updated pictures!!!
