Model Kits: Tidbits shmidbits Vol.1
Sorry I haven’t posted recently. I’ve been super busy reviewing test shots for Forever Fun (Take a look foreverfunblog.com to check out new product coming down the pike later this year.), upcoming model kits and jumping in on some packaging to meet a deadline that managed to sneak up on us.
In the meantime, I’m gonna churn out a few quick hit blog entries. I’ve got lot’s of stuff to write about but not enough time. I still want to keep folks interested and coming back so even though my next few blogs may be short, they’ll be worthwhile. So here we go.
The first test shot buildup of the backdated Mr. Spock model kit. You’ll see a nice little detail we have added but may also find the little detail we missed. (It should make its way back into the model kit… hopefully… eek!)
Cool! It looks like it’s coming along very nicely. I’m looking forward to this one, as I never had the original. I’m guessing the added detail is the flip top on the communicator, right? As for the missing detail, I’m not sure. Is it the rank bands on the shirt cuffs?
You are one for one. We did add the communicator lid. But the rank bands are there.
Neat. I have one of these built-up kicking around somewhere. I love what you guys are doing.
The phaser looks a little blunt, like it’s missing the pointy part (technical term) that sticks out of the front of the barrel.
It looks like his collar may be missing, but I can’t tell for sure.
Very cool!
Looking very much forward to get this! 🙂
I’m not much of a figure builder, but I’m really looking forward to this one! I built it 30 years ago as a kid. Thanks for giving me a bit of my childhood back with ALL the great Star Trek kits you guys are re-releasing!
Its missing the collar, which was on the inaccurate side to begin with. You going to do it like the original kit, or will be you make it look like it did on TV?
Steve
Is the missing detail the Phaser tip? Looks missing from here.
It is indeed the missing collar and it will look similar to the original kit(meaning inaccurate to the show). I say similar because the overall shape will be the same but it won’t have the ribbing detail that the original kit did. At least that’s how we are handling it right now. Hindsight being 20/20, we should have taken the steps to make it show accurate. Oh well. That gives us something to improve later on.
We hope to do other figural kits in the spirit of this one. Nothing is firmly in our plan right now but what do you guys say? Kirk vs the Gorn or Bones vs. err… something weird… We’ve got time to think about that one.
Kirk vs the Gorn? Heck yeah!!!
How about McCoy vs the Salt Vampire!!!
Back on topic, I’m really looking forward to this kit. I only ever saw it once when I was a child and we were visiting in England at the time. Dad said it would be too big to pack to bring back to Australia… *sigh* It would be great now if we could get a distributor in Australia for the Trek kits!
Ok, Now I’m getting greedy, but how about a Bones and sick bay bed?
How cool would that be!
I’d like to see Dr. McCoy “healing” the Horta.
I’d like to see Vena Animal Woman Nude.
My Vulcan senses are telling me:Its going to be a Stellar year for Us Modelers!! I can’t wait for the “Tin” Version to be released! Happy Halloscream, my fellow feinds, Aurora1Craig
Just got mine for Christmas. Wow. It looks great and takes me back 30 years when I got the original one. Can’t even remember whatever happened to it.
I’m looking forward to to taking it on. I’ve learned a lot of model and painting tips since then.
I’d love to the a repop of the Enterprise bridge. Maybe you can add the entire cast this time around?
I’ll just have to ask Santa next year 😉
