Star Trek Model Kits: 1:2500 scale Enterprise Box Set

Here’s a quick update on another exciting Star Trek kit that should be arriving on hobby store shelves before summer. The U.S.S. Enterprise Box Set should arrive on store shelves in April.

This set features snap-together kits of all seven ships from Enterprise to The Original Series and on through Star Trek: Nemesis. The NX-01 is all-new for this release for the first time in 1/2500 scale. Display bases are included for every ship in the set. One last minute change from our previous announcements about the set is that instead of pressure sensitive decals, such as those that come in Gundam figures, we will now include standard water-slide decals for every ship. The decals come on five large sheets that are packed edge to edge with technical markings as well as aztec paneling. Each ship comes molded in its appropriate base color leaving only a few spots of paint to be needed for completists.

In an upcoming blog I’ll feature our new 22″ Eagle with cargo pod and touch on the packaging for that to lead up to a full reveal of the new kit’s packaging.

Fantastic update! Lack of waterslide decals had me considering passing on this kit. 1 question: have the undersides of the secondary hulls on all ships been retooled in order to sit on the display bases? Previous editions had different holes for bases or no holes at all. Thanks!

    • JamieH says:

Yes. We had removed the mounting holes in previous releases, but we have restored them for these. the four smaller kits are set up to accept our small display bases and the three larger ones will use or 5″ dome display bases. In some cases, adapters are used to attach the ships to the metal rods.

  2. Ben says:

Will the refit version in the kit be the one that was packed with movie Era cadet series or the original 1/2500?

  3. Scott says:

Thanks for the update, hopefully we will see some more 1/2500 releases in the future!

I would jump at these if they came pre-decorated. But, the decals (and the painting, but not as much) scare me off of these models. I love the concept. You just need to take it that the step further to gets me to buy them.

    • JamieH says:

We offered some individual 1/2500 kits and 1/1000 kits with markings prepainted on them, but they didn’t perform as well as we hoped. Pre-decorating all of these ships would have also driven the price up for this set.

  6. Daveran says:

This is a great set. Will you make the NX1 available in 1/2500 scale for those of us who already have the other ships?

  7. Mark Bernero says:

I would like to request a release of the K’tinga Class Klingon battlecruiser and Bird Of Prey in 1/1000 scale. This would make a collection of Polar Lights 22nd and 23rd century ships complete!

  8. SpacePoliceman says:

Interesting to note. I’m a bit disappointed to find out its Water Slide decals instead of pressure sensitive. I build a lot of Gundam and Yamato, so I find this a bit discouraging. However, I’m willing to give this a chance. Painting is nothing new to me, but how extensive will these decals be?

Are the decals precut or do I have to cut the entire section for that?

(The Enterprise C, D, and E are scaring me!)

    • SpacePoliceman says:

      ADDITIONALLY;

Are the warp nacelles for ships like the B, C, D, and E in need of coloring, or are there decals for that as well?

      Thank you again.

      • JamieH says:

in some cases the blue warp color is included. I don’t believe it is on the D, but I could be wrong.

        • Dale Ramsey says:

          Actually JamieH,
I think the NX-01, the Enterprise C, and D, will all need their warp nacelles painted from what I have seen as far as the decals that you have released. 🙂

    • JamieH says:

They are the same Aztec decals previously released in the Cadet Series kits. Each decal is built to fit. In some cases the kits come with raised panel lines which would be better to remove.

  9. David says:

Any plans to retool the other ships in 1/2500??

  10. Jacob Weisz says:

    1. Is there any chance of more additions to the Ships of the Line set (AMT914)? It was super hard to track down the last one of the set (the Defiant), but I really love the work on these.

I’m also still desperately waiting to hear of like a 1/2500 scale Akira.

I’m not much of a modeler, but the big draw for me of your 1/2500 work over the many toys and such made by other companies is that your stuff is to scale with each other, which is really appealing to me compared to things like Eaglemoss.

    • JamieH says:

It is great to hear you like what we are doing with our 1/2500 scale kits. Unfortunately, our prepainted Ships of the Line kits wasn’t a success for us. So we won’t be able to do more like it. We will continue adding kits in 1/2500 scale over time, but we have no firm announcements to make right now. Ships like the Akira, Oberth, Excelsior, KBoP and others are all on my list of “hopefully, we’ll get to it some day” kits.

      • Tye G. says:

How about more new 1/1000 scale ships to add to the choices in that line. The next Generation 30th anniversary this year, a 1/1000 Enterprise-D would be perfect, just sayin….;-)

  11. james G says:

Did you guys fix the Amt 660 enterprise b Nacelle decal typo it said NCC – 70 – B with this release

  12. KurtD says:

JaimeH, I’m frigging out ova here! I purchased the D when AMT brought it out in the late ’80’s and pretty much got every kit after that. And now that this kit is coming, I plan on finishing out the lineage with scratch built F & G Enterprises in scale with this kit. Keep up the awesome work!

  13. Jason A. says:

One question I had and I see some sites noting it as such is on the Enterprise Refit. The set is does the TOS Enterprise then the Refit but not either the -A or an option for the -A? As an Enterprise lineage set it would make sense to be able to build up the A, B, C, etc. rather than skipping over if that makes sense. I know physically it’s the same ship but the progression would make better sense from that perspective.

  14. Dale Ramsey says:

I was thinking about the NX-01 in 1/2500 scale. Now wouldn’t it be sweet if you would release the NX-01 in their own 3 piece set. You could do the NX-01, the NX-01 ISS Enterprise, and the NX-01 refit, that was supposed to be used in the 5th season of Enterprise. I think that that set would be awesome. Just a thought. 🙂

  15. Marco says:

I really like those 1/2500 Star Trek ships – while I’d like to build the bigger kits, I currently don’t have the space for them, so those little kits are just perfect for me.

Unfortunately that means, I already have bought all of those kits, and also built many (with self made bases 😉 ) so I’ll have to pass on this set – therefore I’d really like to see the NX-01 in a new 3-pack in the not too distant future. There are still a lot of important Star Trek ships missing in that scale (Vor’cha, BoP, D’deridex, Voyager…)

    🙂

  16. David says:

I like to see the next two model kits of USS Grissom 1000 scale and try to bring out the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A 535 scale kit Anniversary Edition to match the klingon d7 Star Trek 6 The Undiscovered Country that will be cool to see. These model kits are cool set I like the NX-01 Enterprise still like the series for my collection

  17. Josh P says:

Love the set, but a already have all of these from the previous releases. Hate to see the C and E sets still don’t have windows on the decals. I keep hoping to see a new ST movies set in the future with the Grissom, Excelsior, and a Bird of Prey.

  18. Brian says:

you REALLY need to do a 1/2500 Voyager !
